Faculty Positions

Assistant / Associate Professor in Nursing

The Division of Nursing at Wesleyan College invites individuals seeking faculty positions in nursing. Positions are academic full-time, tenure track faculty appointments that include didactic and clinical teaching at the undergraduate BSN level, faculty service, professional service and scholarship. Wesleyan College is the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women and has been granting degrees to women since 1836. Wesleyan’s curriculum is grounded in the liberal arts and provides a student a rich and stimulating intellectual experience in order to thrive in her chosen career. The nursing program at Wesleyan has a strong reputation of graduating professional prepared nurses. Required qualifications for nursing faculty include a master’s degree in nursing with specialization in adult health, demonstrated clinical nursing experience and a current RN license in state of Georgia.

Preferred qualifications include Doctoral degree and/or experience teaching in a baccalaureate degree in nursing program and an established program of scholarship and/or faculty clinical practice. Staff Positions 

Online Academic Advisor

Wesleyan College seeks an experienced academic advisor to help our online students successfully navigate to degree completion. The Online Academic Advisor is responsible for building and maintaining an ongoing partnership with each online student and facilitating all activities related to monitoring enrollment, encouraging course completion, addressing roadblocks to academic success, and connecting online students with support services as needed.  Based on qualifications, the Online Academic Advisor will also teach 2-3 online courses per year.

 Duties:

  • Maintain regular email or phone contact with all online students to ensure they are engaged and have necessary resources to complete each online course.
  • Partner with faculty to monitor and encourage online students’ engagement and participation.
  • Advise online students on course sequence, scheduling, and registration using online platform.
  • Ensure newly enrolled online students understand how to navigate our Learning Management System, textbook rental procedures, Academic Resource Center offerings, and library services.
  • Identify and connect struggling online students with relevant College services and community resources.
  • Teach within the College’s online program as needed within area of academic specialty.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required:

  • Master’s degree.
  • One to two years of academic advising experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of online students’ needs and hindrances to their academic success.
  • Expertise with Learning Management Systems and Web conferencing software.
  • Ability to meet deadlines by prioritizing and organizing work with little to no guidance.
  • Ability to be flexible in responding to varying situations and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Commitment to higher education and nontraditional students.
  • Willingness to seek out and collaborate with campus colleagues as needed to ensure online students receive positive and consistent information and support.
  • Higher education teaching experience.
  • Flexible work schedule to accommodate evening and weekend outreach to students.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office Products, database entry/management, and social media networking tools.

Web Content Manager/Graphic Designer

This position works with the Office of Communications to develop, organize, update, and edit content for Wesleyan College’s website. This position will assist the creative director of brand and website in all aspects of website management as well as assist with print design projects as needed.

The ideal candidate will have bachelor's degree in graphic design/web design/development or related field and 2-4 years of professional graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite, web design, and front-end web development experience with a proven portfolio. Higher education experience is preferred. Working within Wesleyan’s existing content management systems and closely with our in-house marketing team the following qualities are required:

Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) is a plus. Demonstrated web management and design skills including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks is also a plus.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with internal web team and contribute to top-level design strategy of www.wesleyancollege.edu to ultimately ensure that website visitors are able to effortlessly navigate and use website features and functionality
  • Assist with development and implementation of digital marketing campaigns to achieve institutional goals
  • Identify/ provide tactical analysis of emerging technologies, digital marketing opportunities, solutions, and tools
  • Establish strong, positive relationships with institution’s administrative staff, academic programs, and various departments to positively impact the College’s public image
  • Consult with institution’s multiple units to provide guidance on the development and implementation of new content and presences for these units
  • Generate and revise web pages/ liaison with department contacts to keep content current
  • Develop content and graphics including designing images, icons, banners, infographics, animations, etc. as needed

Vice President for Business and Finance/Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Wesleyan College (Macon, GA) announces a national search for Vice President for Business and Finance/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the College.  This position reports to the president of the College and serves on the President’s Cabinet. Working collaboratively with other campus leaders, the CFO oversees all financial and business operations of the College; implements the College’s strategic plan for maintaining fiscal responsibility; manages contracts; and oversees financial services, risk management, campus police, Computer and Information Resources, physical plant, and auxiliary services. The CFO provides financial reports and trends to the Board of Trustees and serves as Cabinet liaison to the following committees of the Board: Finance Committee, Audit Committee, Investment Committee, and Building and Grounds Committee.

The successful candidate will be a strong, innovative leader with an entrepreneurial spirit who motivates others and builds consensus toward strategic directions and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; Master’s degree (preferred); and/or current CPA (preferred)
  • Minimum ten years of progressive experience in business, finance, and/or accounting, preferably in a non-profit or higher education institution; three-five years in a leadership position
  • Experience building relationships and negotiating with vendors and nonprofit boards
  • Collaborative professional; competent communicator
  • Solid fiscal management skills

Director of the Lane Center

The Director of the Lane Center develops, plans, and implements programs and activities designed to prepare Wesleyan students, faculty and staff to engage in service to their communities. The Director must have a rich understanding and appreciation for the goals of the Lane Center and a proven ability to mobilize volunteers for service.

The Lane Center for Service and Leadership was established in 2002 as a focal point of community service and engagement in Central Georgia and to serve as a role model for college and community collaboration nationally.

Primary functions:

  • Manage the daily operations of the Lane Center, including budgeting, assessment, and reporting on outreach activities and programs
  • Implement programs that provide hands on service opportunities
  • Provide educational opportunities and resources related to service learning:
    • Meet regularly with faculty who include service learning in their courses
    • Teach one section of HMS 299 each semester, addressing theory and including a service component
    • Develop assessment tools to assess service and service learning
    • Provide leadership development activities for students
  • Supervise Wesleyan College students, student workers, and community volunteers who participate in Lane Center activities
  • Plan and promote biannual WOW! A Day activities to expose the campus community to local service agencies
  • Oversee Aunt Maggie’s Kitchen Table Outreach Center
  • Coordinate transportation to and from Lane Center activities for volunteers
  • Represent Wesleyan in community meetings and outreach efforts
  • Collaborate with Advancement staff to secure funding for Lane Center projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years professional experience
  • Working knowledge of the role of service and volunteer initiatives
  • At least three years’ experience in community development, non-profit management
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A proven record of personal service and servant leadership

Preferred

  • Higher Education experience

Full time, 12 Month position including benefits. Includes regular evening and weekend work. Reports to the Dean of Students in Student Affairs. Will serve campus as a member of the Emergency on-call team.

Drivers -Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)  

Wesleyan College seeks to hire drivers with a current CDL to be part of an on-call list. Drivers will be utilized to transport students, student athletes, and other members of the Wesleyan community for various events and activities. The hours will vary to include weekends and evenings, and in some cases overnight stays may be required. Applicants should possess the following:

  • Current CDL license
  • Pass a background check
  • Have no DMV violations within the last two (2) years

Wesleyan College (on-call) Police Officer

On-Call Police Officers are called in on an as needed basis and just like the full-time police officer staff, they are required to protect the lives and properties of the Wesleyan College Community. On-Call officers fill in for full-time officers when they need time off. This could be a prepared leave time or an emergency leave time, which means On-Call officers must provide a schedule of their availability. On-Call officers will be required to cover a 12 hour (8am-8pm/8pm-8am) shift when called upon, and during special college events that require additional officers. They are required to respond professionally to the need for detection and prevention of crimes. Officers must be prepared to maintain law and order. On-Call officers are required to patrol the entire campus property by vehicle, and some by foot. On-Call officers duties also include traffic enforcement, accident reporting, and criminal investigations. On-Call officers are expected to secure physical structures on the campus and maintain a daily activity log. On-Call officers will provide security at social and athletic events, conduct safety inspections, control and direct traffic, enforce college rules and regulations, issue parking citations, and enforce the law governing the state, and other duties as defined by supervisors.

Job Qualifications:
Candidates must be twenty-one years of age, and have a valid driver’s license. All applicants must be certified through the Georgia Peace Officers Standard and Training Council. Must be in good physical condition, and able to work any shift. Must be able to handle stressful situations and be an effective communicator.

Campus Police Officer

The Wesleyan College Campus Police Department is currently seeking qualified, professional candidates for the position of Campus Police Officer. Police Officers are required to protect the lives and properties of the Wesleyan College Community. Officers are required to perform a variety of duties related to the protection of life and property, enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, prevention of crime, preservation of the public peace, apprehension of criminals, and calls for service.

Officers are required to patrol the entire campus property by vehicle, and some by foot. Officer’s duties also include traffic enforcement, accident reporting, and criminal investigations. Officers are expected to secure physical structures on the campus, and maintain daily log entries of activities. Officers will provide security at social and athletic events, conduct safety

inspections, control and direct traffic, enforce college rules and regulations, issue parking citations, and enforce the law governing the state and other duties as defined by supervisor.

All applicants must have completed the required training course for a police officer at a Georgia Police Academy and received a certificate of graduation as required by the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Act.
